Couples Counseling
Couples counseling through Safe Harbour Counseling is for anyone that would like to strengthen their relationship. Contrary to the stigmas, couples counseling is not just for marriages that are in trouble.
We help people learn how to understand each other with different communication styles, which is a big factor for a successful marriage. We also act as a mediator when they are discussing important issues like finances, intimacy, children, religion and political views.
Couples counseling can help with...
- Straight or gay relationships
- Interracial relationships
- Young teen or college relationships
- Relationships with a large age gap
- Relationships that are at any stage, including dating, engaged, or married
Signs or Indicators that a couple may need to seek counseling:
You're not “feeling much love”
You're not communicating well
One partner had a physical or emotional affair
You bicker endlessly
One partner is thinking of breaking up
Sex is so-so
You fight all the time
You pretend everything is fine
The same issues keep coming up
You have different views about money
You want to have a healthy relationship
What to Expect at Your Session:
Typically, sessions will occur every two weeks to start and will last around an hour. They can be in-person or virtual depending on the couple’s preference.
We will start each session with a check in to see how they are doing since your last session. We discuss any issues that come up in between. We will then discuss new strategies to help you overcome your differences, provide a wrap up and give homework for you to work on until the next session.
If you need to get in touch with us outside of sessions, you can email or call our office to speak with your counselor. You can also email and message us from your client portal.
