What to Expect at Your Session:
At the beginning of the session, we typically go over your week and will discuss anything that was upsetting or stressful. We will then continue to work on your goals. At the end, we will wrap up the session with recapping and giving homework, if any. If we are doing EMDR sessions, then the whole session is geared toward this intervention.
If we are doing CBT, outside the session you will need to continue to practice challenging your distorted thoughts with new strategies. You will also need to practice your coping skills. I will also have clients answer thought provoking questions that will help you continue to heal outside of sessions.
Many clients operate on either a weekly or bi-weekly basis and will last about an hour. These sessions can be completed virtually or in person, depending on what the client would prefer.
